Charles Robertson is a a writer and director at Bottle Tree Productions in Kingston, Ontario. He has written about sixty plays, including touring school shows, based on Canadian history as well as adaptations of the classic fairy-tales. He has written a number of plays for young people to perform from ages eight up to eighteen. He has written plays that range from gritty urban dramas to historical romance. He has been commissioned to write short pieces for the City of Kingston and for a wedding. Last summer he wrote a huge interactive drama about the Eve of Confederation for the Saint Lawrence Parks Commission at Upper Canada Village near Morrisburgh, Ontario. This year, he is working with actor Cassel Miles to bring the story of Josiah Henson to life on the stage. It will be a touring production that will cost $150,000 to get off the ground. The Butterfly Collector is another ongoing production that should reach completion in the Fall of 2018. Set in England, in the Victorian age, it follows the rise and fall of a poet who comes from the streets and ends up destitute and in a madhouse.
